An Office Cleaning Schedule That Works

If you’ve been following this blog, you already understand the importance of regular office cleaning to keep your employees healthy and happy and to make a positive impression on visitors.

You probably also know that the cleaning process is more than simply cleaning out the fridge and wiping down surfaces with disinfectant wipes occasionally.

But exactly what chores need to be done? And how often?

The Bathrooms

At least twice a day, ensure that toilets and sinks are cleaned and disinfected. Sweep the floor and mop it with disinfectant. You also need to make sure any trash is cleaned up and all hard surfaces are disinfected. Check on toilet paper and paper towel rolls and replace them as needed.

The Kitchen

Because it’s such a high-traffic area, the surfaces of your kitchen or break room, including the microwave, need to be cleaned every day. Also you will need to go through the refrigerator once a week, throwing out any spoiled food to prevent the growth of mold. Schedule a weekly deep cleaning for the entire kitchen area.

The Lobby

Keep the desk in your reception area clean and free of clutter. On a daily basis, dust all hard surfaces and empty trash cans and recycling bins. Check on the water cooler and replace cups and fresh water as needed. If you have magazines available for guests to read, check that these are organized neatly.

The Building Exterior

Hire a professional to wash your windows once a month to make your space look brighter and cleaner. Have your building exterior pressure washed at least once a year. If you live in an area with a lot of pollution, you may need this service more frequently. The same is true if you have white exterior walls.

By carefully following these practices, you can ensure a clean, healthy environment for employees and visitors.
